There are a few ways to get to Vieques, each with different costs and amounts of time required. Fly from San Juan International Airport (SJU) to Vieques San Juan International Airport (SJU) is where all flights arrive from the 50 states and overseas. You can fly directly from SJU to Vieques. Isla Grande Airport is a much smaller airport a few miles away from SJU. You can take a taxi between the two airports, then fly from Isla Grande to Vieques. The airlines that fly this route include Vieques Air Link and MN Aviation. This option can save some money, especially if there are more than two people traveling. Fajardo is a city on the east coast of Puerto Rico, about an hour taxi ride from San Juan. From Fajardo there is a passenger ferry to Vieques. Click here for ferry schedules (subject to change) and taxi information. Please arrive about an hour before ferry departure to ensure tickets are not sold out. Taxi info: We recommend using Mary & Angel, who are a very nice couple with a few taxi-vans with A/C. They are very reliable and will meet you at the San Juan airport. You can call them at 787-863-8224 or 787-649-9155, but please be patient with Mary's English. They charge around $50 for the ride from San Juan to Fajardo, plus a bit extra for additional people, luggage, and evening drives.
